Avatar, James Cameron's award winning movie of 2009, has captured the hearts and imaginations of people around the world. In this tale, a banged up Marine by the name of Jake Sully is sent on a mission to the moon Pandora. However, in getting to know the native people, the Na'vi, he not only falls in love with the princess of the Omaticaya Clan, he is compelled to fight against the very people who hired him to destroy the Na'vi and their home. Now, you can act out the different roles from this epic movie in your adult avatar costumes.

Many people like to dress up for masquerade parties. Whether it is for Halloween, New Years, or Mardi Gras, your Avatar inspired costume will certainly garner a lot of attention.

The beautiful and dangerous princess of the Omaticaya clan, Neytiri, is a popular figure for women to dress up as for Halloween. When shopping for her costume, you will find that most kits contain the full body body suit, a tail, an apron to cover the groin, arm gauntlets and beaded bracelets.

Most men will want to dress up as the banged-up Marine, Jake Sully, whose Avatar falls in love with Neytiri. Most prepared costume kits contain a mask, pants and jacket necessary for his costume. However, they do not include the blue turtleneck shirt, tail or gauntlets that you may decide that you need.

If you are not feeling terribly bold, but still want to be part of the Avatar contingent, you could go as Dr. Grace. For her costume, add a plain colored tank top and a pair of jeans to the Neytiri costume.

For some fans of this incredible film, it is not enough to simply wear the costume. They want to blend into the tribe or clan along with the others. They may want to look like Tsu'Tey or let their own Na'vi natures shine through. Taking the basic Neytiri costume, they can add elements such as jewels, beads, feathers and markings that are specifically theirs.

While some of the costume kits offer masks, perhaps the best way to make your Avatar inspired costume unique is to take some time and do some body painting. Using high quality face and body paints, start with a blue base coat on your face and ears, neck and shoulders. When this coat dries, apply dark brush strokes to make your stripes (zebra or cat) and then small light colored dots to contrast in between the lines.

Remember to wear your hair the Na'vi way - in braids of course. If your hair is not long enough, or time is short, you can always find a good quality braided wig to wear. Make sure you thread feathers into it, and to wear your cat-like ears with pride for the perfect look in your avatar costumes for adults. - 39969
